Rockfort Live!

Since its inception, Rockfort has been organising live events in London, featuring the best up-and-coming and established French talent. We started up at The Social on Little Portland Street, then moved to the Windmill in Brixton, and we even tried one in St Giles Church near Tottenham Court Road. Our latest enterprise finds us at the French Institute on 9 June, presenting filmed interviews and performances from Emily Loizeau, Anne Pigalle and Holden. All the details are below, but you can buy tickets here and read an interview with Holden here.

Rockfort, the French music website and Resonance FM radio show, in collaboration with the French Institute’s Ciné lumière and Cinémoi, the French movie channel, is proud to present a very special musical event on Tuesday 9th June.

The French Institute will host performances by French star Emily Loizeau, quietly haunting Parisian group Holden and cult chanteuse Anne Pigalle.

The night will also feature screenings of interviews filmed by the Rockfort team and Cinémoi for the channel, with artists like Jane Birkin, Sebastien Tellier and Moriarty.

Emily Loizeau is a kindred spirit of American free-folk artists like Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom. She releases her second album, Pays Sauvage, on Bella Union later in the year after the huge commercial and critical success of her debut, L’Autre Bout du Monde, in France. An album of dreamy and often gently surrealistic folk, it finds her collaborating with anti-folk heroes Herman Dune and like-minded Franco-American group Moriarty.

Anne Pigalle is the very image of bohemian chic and embodies the spirit of Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich. She is best known for her mid-eighties album on ZZT with Trevor Horn, the classic Everything Could Be So Perfect, but in her diverse career she has worked with people as varied as Adrian Sherwood, Leonard Cohen, John Lee Hooker
and David Cunningham of the Flying Lizards.
Holden are based around the core of guitarist Mocke and singer Armelle Pioline. Over four gorgeous albums of deceptive sonic and emotional complexity, and through their collaboration with maverick producer AtomTM, they’ve perfected a uniquely ghostly sound. They will be performing specially as a duo.
