Rockfort Moving On

This Rockfort website will be going out of action - but the action is moving here. See you in the new world.

Celestial Visitation

Rockfort on The Quietus: Lo'Jo Interview

Rockfort is back in action on The Quietus with an interview with Lo'Jo's Denis Péan about the band's 30-year history and their 13th album, Cinema El Mundo.

High Wolf Live This Week

Yes, as the headline suggests, High Wolf is going to be playing live at The Others in Stoke Newington on 1 September courtesy of independent label/promoters Bomb Shop. Support comes from Female Band and Ambrosia, and tickets are available here.

Stray Beautiful

Parisian producer Sebastien Forrester, who goes by the name of Holy Strays and is an erstwhile member of the Not Not Fun stable, has his first release on Morning Ritual records on 13 August. 'Christabell A' and 'Christabell B' are 'non-identical twin' tracks that both combine organ, euphoric vocal snatches, big synth pads and rattling, snapping beats. They're available on 7" vinyl or digitally but you can listen now here.

Fire Walk With Me

Philippe Petit (interviewed here) has just released the second chapter of his Extraordinary Tales of a Lemon Girl series an Aagoo, as well as the full three-album set on vinyl. Part two of his surrealist odyssey, Fire-Walking to Wonderland is quite possibly even more enjoyably nightmarish and jarring than the first.

Lyrikah's Second 'Acte'

Psykick Lyrikah and guitarist Olivier Mellano collaborate on a new album, Acte II, featuring lyrics from previous Psykick Lyrikah recordings set to new backings written and performed by Mellano. Recorded in just three hours, it comes eight years after their first Acte collboaration. The album can be listened to in its entirety here and downloaded for as little as 2 EUR.

Look to The Skies

Just out on Clapping Music is the debut album by Egyptology, the duo of Olivier Lamm (who has previously released albums such as 2007's excellent Monolith) and Stéphane Laporte aka Domotic. The Skies is very much of the moment with its cosmic synth leanings, strong traces of Jarre and Vangelis and that increasingly ubiquitous John Carpenter influence (see also Drokk). You can listen to the album on bandcamp.

Imany and More for Exhibition Road Music Day

This year's Exhibition Road Music Day in London (the English offshoot of Fête de la musique) is on 23 June and features an outdoor stage in Kensingon Gardens and  performances from acoustic folk and blues singer Imany as well as electro chanteuse Anne B and Congolese rumba/sala fusion from Grupo Lokito. You can go here for more info.
