Tomorrow night (Tuesday 10 November) Rockfort presents a special extended show featuring a French language conversation with Christian Vander, the drummer-leader of the legendary prog group Magma, and music from several of the group's albums. Vander holds forth on subjects including his passion for John Coltrane, the Kobaian language, and meeting his wife Stella. For listeners who don't speak French, an English transcription will follow shortly on this website.
Via the Filles Sourires blog, Rockfort has learned of the death, to cancer, of Denis Quillard aka Jacno, who was a member of seminal French punk group Stinky Toys (who made the cover of the Melody Maker) with Ellie Medeiros before developing a perky-but-glacial electronic sound on the likes of 'Rectangle' and 'Triangle', and on hits for Lio 'Le Banana Split' and 'Amoureux Solitaires.'
Emily Loizeau is coming back to the UK to support the release on Bella Union of her 'Pays Sauvage' album, and she'll be performing at Bush Hall, in Shepherd's Bush, on 19 November, when Rockfort's Ludo and David will also be on DJ duties. The Rockfort radio show on 17 November will also feature an in-depth interview with Emily.
Rockfort on 27 October features a session and interview with Titi Robin, the brilliant, self-taught gypsy-jazz guitarist, bouzouki and oud player who draws on traditions from flamenco to Berber folk styles.
Laetitia Sadier, of Sterelab and Monade, will be a guest on Rockfort radio show on Resonance FM on Tuesday 20 October. As well as chatting, Laetitia will be debuting solo material live in the studio.

The marvellous DIY pop sounds of GaBLé can be sampled in Camden on 16 October when the Caen group play The Enterprise. It is apparently their only scheduled UK date for the forseeable future. For a preview of what to expect, click here.

’s live show. MH will also be playing at 93 Feet East the following night as part of a French Revolution line-up that also includes The Weakends

The French Kiss European tour, centred around three female up-and-coming singer-songwriters - Oshen, Claire Denamur and Zaza Fournier - is stopping off at the French Institute in South Kensington on 3 November, from 8pm. It's an all-ages event and free, with admission on a first-come first-served basis.
