A new video for Sebastien Tellier’s single 'Roche' – taken from the 'Sexuality' album – is now viewable on-line here and features the bearded wonder playing piano and serenading giant, disembodied lips on a stunning beach. And there's a giant lady in it. Of course.
Natasha, singer with Tricatel house band AS Dragon for two albums, has talked to Rockfort about her solo project. New material has been written with Benjamin Lebeau, former singer of The Film and now with The Shoes, and her touring band includes former members of AS Dragon and The Film, while Philippe Katerine has written lyrics for a song, ‘Un Poing C’est Tout.’ Of the band’s split, she said: “We always had problems going forward simply because there was no leader and we were five strong entities quite different from one another. The second album recording sessions were painful for everyone, the tour we did after that wore out the small flame that was left.” The new material is “much more personal and intimate.” www.myspace.com/natashaband
Phoenix have made a track, ‘1901’– from their forthcoming album ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’ – available as a free download on their site www.wearephoenix.com. It can also be heard on their myspace. It sees them strike a balance between the rocky, Strokes-like sound of ‘It’s Never Been Like That’ and the synthetic textures of earlier work. To support it, the band will be in the UK for a sold-out gig at the Hoxton Bar and Kitchen, and then at Koko on 1 June.
The artist formally known as Fuck Buddies will make his new album, 'Burials', available to download in mid-April, and it will be the first to be issued under his real name, Sebastien Duclos. He told Rockfort: “It was recorded in China with just guitar, harmonium and voice. It’s very dark but not hopeless. It’s about the death of my grandparents and other things that have accumulated over the past few years. You could say the atmosphere is quite close to that of Nico’s ‘The Marble Index’, Xiu Xiu’s ‘Fag Patrol’ or Smog’s ‘Wild Love’, but with the bedside light on.” Duclos’ final ep as Fuck Buddies, the synth-heavy ‘Justice’, is currently available at fuckbuddies.deadbees.com
